Regional Cancer Center(RCC)

Introduction

Regional Cancer Center Raipur is a new and developing RCC of India. It is 17th RCC of the country out of 28 existing RCC. It is the only tertiary care Government Cancer Hospital & referral center for cancer in state of Chhattisgarh. It drains about 2.5 Crore population. It drains whole chhattisgarh and also patients from adjoining state like, Orissa, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Maharastra specially Nagpur. Most of the patients are from rural & tribal areas.

Cancer Centre, Raipur (1979-2002)

• Approximately 400-500 patients / year

• Approximately 4,000 patients treated with radiotherapy

Regional Cancer Centre, Raipur (2003-2016)

• In 2001, Cancer Centre, Raipur is Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College, was declared as Regional Cancer Centre of      Chhattisgarh state

• There are about 28 Regional Cancer Institute in Chhattisgarh is at 17th position.

• Regional Cancer Centre is the only Institute where 2 lakh 10 crore Chhattisgarh people can get entire treatment of Cancer.

• Now about 4000 new cancer patients and a total of around 40,000 cancer patients seen each year.

• RCC Raipur is probably the only institute,not only in India but in world, where the poor patients who are living below the poverty line are getting full free treatment for cancer.

• This is only RCC of India where 1st state aided dual Energy Linear accelarator with 3DCRT, IMRT, IGRT and VMAT, was installed in 2010. Another single energy Linear accelarator with SRS & SRT is intalled this year.These Radiotherapy facilities are available Free to BPL and at nominal cost to APL. 

• India’s 3rd Institution where Wide Bore CT Simulator with moving lasers and respiratory gating is available.

• 10th Institution of India Where Mammotome machine is available.

• Only institute of the state, where post MSc. diploma in Medical Physics (physicist) and post BSc. diploma for radiotherapy Technician, courses, were started in affiliation with A.E.R.B Mumbai and Ayush Health & Science University Raipur Chhattisgarh.

• It is the only institute of Chhattisgarh morphine injection /tablet Fantenye and Buprenorphine Patch are freely available for cancer pain.

• It is the only institute where almost all cancer chemotherapy drugs and targated agents like Trantuzumab, Cetuximab, Gefitinib, Erlotinib, Crizotinib, Imatinib, Dasatinib, Sunitinib & Sorafenib are available completely free.

• C.G. signature marked by Indian governments for PAIN AND PALLIATIVE CARE.

Machines and treatment Site


Cancer ward

•    On 14 February 2003 cancer ward was inaugurated.

•    35 beds are available with Multi-Para monitor, pulse ox meter, D Fabrilarator and with ECG facility.

•    Air conditioned and music facility caner ward.

•    Throughout the year, about around 18 thousand patients are admitted in treatment.

Cobalt machine

•    From March 17, 2003 the Cobalt machine is available.

•    Radiation treatment of about 100 patients per day.
